Andy’s Captain’s Blog 2022
I cannot believe it is 2023 already. They say time goes by quicker when you get older, and I have asked the seniors to confirm if this is true?
I hope you are all well and like me looking forward to the year ahead.
Before I let you know what I am planning in 2023 I would just like to reflect on my time as Vice-Captain.
When I took on this role, I did not know what there was to do, but I had good tutors and advice from my fellow committee members and past Captains.
The year started a bit wet so not much golf was played early doors.
When the weather did improve it just got better and better to the point that the course got a bit too dry, but how lovely it was to play in these ideal conditions all summer long.
We had some fantastic days of golf:
Am Am on the 1st July which was well attended by members and non-members.
Captains Day on 3rd September was great fun, with a back-to-school theme.
I could continue going on about 2022 but I am afraid of turning this into a Smithy waffle, so let me tell you about what we have planned for 2023.
The social committee are working hard on putting Bishopswood back on the map as the place to come to enjoy yourself:
21st January Burns Night: Traditional Burns Supper with Piper.
Every first Wednesday of the month the now well-established quiz night
Every Friday club night (with no touchy feely) meat raffle
Summer Ball – date to be confirmed
And many more social events to be announced throughout the year
Hopefully by now you will all have received your club notebook with all the upcoming golf events that will take place in 2023
I sincerely hope that we all have a successful year ahead and I am certainly looking forward to my year as Captain.
I will strive to be involved with all of the sections, and be engaged as much as possible.
Just to conclude I wish you all a Happy New Year and hope to see you all soon on the course and/or at one of the social events.
