Presidents Journal

February 2023 – Bishopswood Golf Club

Our President, Malcolm, with his update

Malcolm’s Presidents Journal

Hi Everyone

Before I begin, I would like to give a big shout out to all those members who keep on supporting  Bishopswood Golf Club both on and off the course.

Now back to the journal, our  Club Captain, along with his social committee are working  tirelessly with the membership and a wider audience to arrange golfing and social events, which they hope will appeal,  these events don’t just happen overnight, they take meticulous planning, and are all part of our Club Captains year, like most golf clubs we are coming out of an enforced hibernation, and need to engage more proactively when these opportunities arise.

When I agreed to stand for a second term as Club President, I was under no illusion on how difficult the job in hand was going to be to change minds, attitudes and habits.

John Lydgate once wrote, “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time.”

So by opening  up to alternatives, we look to evolve and to adapt to our surroundings and what we  then discover standing still is not an option,

Throughout the coming calendar year, Bishopswood Golf Club will be organising golfing and social events that will need to be supported. These include summer knockout competitions, monthly competitions, fun competitions.

Socially, Friday Club Night is open to members and guests, where you can come along and meet fellow members and enjoy themed food evenings,  Sunday lunches are also available on the first and last Sundays of each month, and our kitchen is open daily Tuesday to Sunday from 11.00 to 15.00. all food is prepared by our resident chef.

As a golf club we have one of the best local facilities, it opens its doors daily, for you and your family to come along and enjoy the ambience and to socialise, people are always on the lookout for a family friendly experience they will remember.

By supporting your golf club  you will be playing your part in the future longevity of Bishopswood Golf Club,

Malcolm Boreham
